Movies In The Park Returns This Friday

OAKHURST — Once again it’s time to grab chairs and blankets and get ready for a good time, as Oakhurst Community Park hosts free Movies In The Park this Friday, July 21.

The family-friendly event takes place starting around dusk; food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Proceeds from concession sales are being set aside to pay for a future splash pad in the park.

The inaugural event took place on June 30 when the park committee screened the magical 1984 classic, The NeverEnding Story. The movies are summer classics the whole family can enjoy, shown on a large screen.

This week, on July 21, the free movie is the animated Disney tale, Moana, set in Ancient Polynesia:

Moana sets sail in search of a fabled island, where she teams up with her hero, the legendary demigod Maui, to traverse the open sea.

The show starts at dusk and organizers say if you arrive around 8 p.m., you’ll get a great seat and time to pick up some concessions.

Popcorn, sodas, water, candy and hot dogs will be available for purchase and all proceeds will go toward the Park Committee Fund to assist in the building of a splash pad and adding lights to the venue for nighttime activities.

On Friday, Aug. 18 the movie planned is Goonies.
