Mountain Lion Attacks Deer Near Oakhurst Home

OAKHURST — Our friend Kevin Musso, Chief Meteorologist at ABC30, was visiting his parents at their home near Oakhurst today, when everyone was reminded once again of the very real danger posed by mountain lions, even in the middle of the day.

“My daughter was video taping deer outside the window of my parents’ home near Oakhurst, when suddenly a huge mountain lion attacked!” says Kevin, who sent these still images from the video.

“The deer escaped this time, but if you live in the mountains or foothills beware of cougars. This attack happened right off my parents’ patio, in broad daylight.”

According to the time stamp on the video, it was shot at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. You can see the deer running away in the top center of the photo.

The exact location is Black Ranch Road just off Road 426.

Kevin posted the video on his ABC30 Action News Facebook page – click here to see the entire clip.
