Motorcycle Crash Claims Life Of Oakhurst Woman

OAKHURST — An accident on Highway 41 near El Cid yesterday has claimed the life of an Oakhurst woman.

At 1:18 p.m., Gary Shipp, 59, of Cleburne, Texas, was stopped on River Falls Road, preparing to turn left onto Highway 41 in a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner.

Lawrence Kellerhals, 64, of Oakhurst, was northbound on Highway 41 on a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, with his wife Denise Kellerhals, also 64, riding as a passenger.

Just as they approached River Falls Road, the Toyota pulled directly out in front of the motorcycle, according to CHP, and it collided with the left front of the Toyota. The force of the crash caused both riders to be ejected from the motorcycle.

Lawrence Kellerhals sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash, but Denise was critically injured and was airlifted by SkyLife to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. She later succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
