Moon In Leo And The Wise Guys At Mariposa Art Park

Written by Ronnie Sweeting – Producer/Mariposa Evenings

MARIPOSA – Cousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings – brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors – presents, live in concert, John Cardenas & the Wise Guys on Friday, July 10, and Moon in Leo on Saturday, July 11.

The Wise Guys, with vocalist John Cardenas, pay homage to what’s become known as the Jazz standards of yesteryear, played by big bands, as well as small combos; pre rock n’ roll, pop music of the 30s, 40s, and early 50s.

The band will be performing their nostalgic catalog of classics – the core Wise Guys trio has played Mariposa Evenings many times in the past – that include Cardenas’ crooning vocal interpretations, reminiscent of Sinatra, Fitzgerald, and Bennett. Find out more at http://sinatraconcert.com/ or their facebook page.

Homegrown Mariposan, singer/songwriter Bret Wice – who has played top venues in Los Angeles and toured worldwide – leads his alternative rock band Moon in Leo, based again in the foothills, writing, recording and performing in the area.

Locals may remember Wice from the popular Mariposa group, Asopriam, a staple of Mariposa Evenings years ago. Moon in Leo’s repertoire reflects Wice’s continued growth as a songwriter and his and his bandmate’s (including wife Carlyn) honing of their performance skills into top form. We welcome this very original and contemporary band back to the burgeoning Mariposa music scene, a scene Wice helped establish.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Highway 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged and appreciated.

The Mariposa Arts Council, sponsor of Cousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings, is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The MARIPOSA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL, INC. is an incorporated not-for-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
