COARSEGOLD – Young athletes who missed the first round of registrations last week need not worry, since Minarets Youth Football (MYF) is holding a second registration for the upcoming football season.
MYF will be fielding three teams in the 2014 season: Pee Wees, Juniors and Seniors. The cost for registration is $110 and includes Spirit Pack items such as t-shirt, shorts, gear, bag, mouthpiece, socks and belt.
Sign-ups will be taking place on Saturday, May 31 at the Yosemite Lakes Park Rec Center, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. .Parents are advised to bring the child’s birth certificate. Sponsorship forms area available from MYF if needed.
Pee Wees must be 8, 9 or 10 years old by Dec. 31, and cannot turn 11 before Nov. 30. Playing weights for Pee Wees are 50 – 115.2 lbs. and a 10 yr. old cannot exceed 83.2 lbs.
Juniors must be 10, 11 or 12 by Dec. 31, but cannot turn 13 before Nov. 30. Playing weights are 65 – 140.2 lbs.
Seniors must be 12, 13 or 14 by Dec. 31 but cannot turn 15 before Nov. 30. Playing weights are 80 – 175.2 lbs.
All practices and home games will be played at Minarets High School with the season beginning on July 28, and concluding Nov. 22. Practice will be Monday – Friday for the first three weeks, from 6 – 8 p.m. Then, practice will go to three days a week for the same times.
Games are every Saturday beginning with the Juniors at 4:30 p.m., followed by Pee Wees at 5 p.m. and Seniors at 7:30 p.m. Weigh-in times will be announced.
