O’NEALS — One of our own mountain community boys, Minarets High senior Mason Ellis, will playing in the Blue-Grey High School All-American Bowl this weekend. The game will be steamed live on Impax Football Network from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ EverBank Field at 12:30 EST. Mason will be sporting his high school number “3” at the wide receiver position.

Mason has played all four years at Minarets, adapting to any position his coaches put him in. He had 166 carries with an average of 90 yards a game, for a season total of 1,613 yards last season under head Coach Bob Kelly. Mason’s 24 touchdowns helped the Mustangs to their winningest season to date.

He has put in the hard work and dedication to get this point. Working with his personal trainer Jackson Lakatani for several years, as well as attending off season combines and playing on travel teams, has elevated his game. Mason is also a leader with our local FCA, FFA and a long time member of North Fork 4H. As a three-sport student athlete, he also plays baseball and basketball. Mason’s parents, George and Candy Ellis, have sat through a lot of games, but this has to be one of the best seats in the house for them.
