Middle School Madness Saturday Night

OAKHURST – Saturday, Nov. 16 all area Junior High students are invited to attend Middle School Madness, a fun-filled party at a gymnastics studio, hosted by five Yosemite High students who are raising funds for a trip to Europe next year.

Middle School Madness goes from 7 – 11 p.m. at Gymnastics By Diane located at 40879 Hwy. 41.

The event will feature “everything middle-schoolers like,” including music, dancing, trampolines, dodge ball, gymnastics equipment, snacks, drinks, candy and more!

Middle School Madness flierThe cost for the evening, designed especially for students in grades 6-7-8, includes ten tickets for drinks and snacks, and is $20 for the 4-hour party.

“It is going to be ‘crazy-mad’ at this Middle School Madness dance!” says Jessica Fine, one of the organizers, a YHS student who just took top honors in Cross Country at YHS.

The five sophomores putting on the event are Clara Briley, Allie Donnell, Jessica Fine, Kevin Kirk and Quentin Lawrence.

Together, these students call themselves the “Fantastic Five” and hope to raise enough money over the course of many months to get to Paris and Madrid in Oct. 2014.

The far-flung field trip is a Yosemite High School tradition and will be chaperoned by Señora Rebecca Brokaw, Rebecca Hardison and Madame Rachel Cornec, among others.

The Fantastic Five prepare for Middle School MadnessAll the students participating are so excited for this opportunity to go to Europe next year. It’s so awesome that we get to go through school in our Junior year, when in most high schools, the only field trips are for Seniors at the end of the year. Everyone who’s going has been fundraising like crazy to raise enough money, because no one wants to miss it.

The “Fantastsic Five” decided to do Middle School Madness because there is little to do in Oakhurst for teenagers, and we want to give kids a really great night out. And parents, too! With cooperation from Diane Altimus at Gymnastics by Diane, the event will be chaperoned by the students’ parents as well as the high school kids, themselves.
