Mariposa Symphony Orchestra Documentary Released Online

MARIPOSA — Lovely Film’s documentary on the Mariposa Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO) Our Nation’s Nature tour is now available for free viewing online.

Our Nation’s Nature is an evening-length symphonic cycle of orchestral works composed by MSO Founder/Conductor Les Marsden.

The project was awarded a major grant by the California Arts Council to help fund the orchestra’s seven-concert tour of the five counties of the Yosemite region as a commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service.

The documentary features interviews with Yosemite National Park Superintendent Don Neubacher, Marsden and others. Portions of some of the orchestra’s various Yosemite gateway community performances of Our Nation’s Nature including its April 24 premiere-weekend concert in the Majestic Yosemite Hotel are interspersed with scenic footage of Yosemite.

The tour concludes on the Aug. 20 and 21 weekend with two performances including one on the Sierra’s East Side in Mono County at Mammoth Middle School in Mammoth Lakes.

Marsden, named a Yosemite NPS Centennial Ambassador in 2015, founded the MSO in 2002 as a project of the Mariposa County Arts Council; full details of Our Nation’s Nature may be found at http://tinyurl.com/MariposaSO
