MARIPOSA COUNTY – On Thursday, Apr. 10, the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office initiated investigation into two residential burglaries, both in Eastern Mariposa County.
One occurred at a home in the Italian Creek Road area and the second in the Ponderosa Basin community. Both burglaries took place during the daylight “business hours” while homeowners were away from their residences.
The modus operandi of both burglaries was similar – a suspect entered through an unlocked window and used pillow cases to collect valuables and firearms.
Sheriff Doug Binnewies wants to alert communities to this activity so residents can keep their eye out for anything suspicious. Such activity should include watching out for solicitors and other persons who are approaching residences such as deliveries or mobile services.
