Marine Corps League Flags And Roses

OAKHURST — If you’re shopping around town on Saturday, Oct. 21, you may notice members of the Marine Corps League Griswold Mountain Detachment #1121, who will be stationed outside of Von’s, Grocery Outlet and True Value.

It’s the day that the group promotes the Marine Corps League’s Flags And Roses campaign with a mission to preserve Marine Corps traditions, lend assistance to Marine veterans, including veterans of other military branches, and to provide opportunities for service, camaraderie, and fellowship within our communities.

So if you find yourself at one of these locations this Saturday, stop and say hello. They’ll be giving out American flags and small silk roses, and accepting donations to help support the League’s good works locally.

Members recently put forth great effort to establish the Veterans Memorial at Ahwahnee Regional Park, and as ever, contribute community awards to two graduating high school students in the form of scholarships.
