george-taylor-windsorOAKHURST — One man is in custody and another in the hospital following a suspicious crash north of Oakhurst last night in which a woman was found dead.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a suspicious male loudly knocking on a door and yelling for help just off River Falls Road.

At about the same time, there were reports of a vehicle crash on Highway 41 between Oakhurst and the Bass Lake turn off.

Deputies and CHP arrived on scene of the accident and found that a pickup had collided with a rock embankment near River Falls Road. An injured adult male was found near the pickup and a deceased adult female was located inside the vehicle.

The injured male was transported to a hospital in Fresno where he is being treated for stab wounds, and was interviewed by Sheriff’s detectives.

Detectives also responded to the scene of the initial call off River Falls Road and spoke with a man who had been detained at that location.

After the initial investigation, the detained male was arrested for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. He has been identified as 26-year-old George Taylor-Windsor, and has been living in the Oakhurst area recently. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

A third man, who had been a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision, was located by detectives and also interviewed; he is considered a witness at this point.

Highway 41 was closed throughout the night between River Falls Road and Road 222 as law enforcement conducted their investigation. The roadways has since reopened.

The deceased victim is not being identified at this point pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted later this week to determine cause of death.
