OAKHURST — The Madera County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (MADSAR) Rope Rescue Team, under the direction of Deputy Jack Williamson, spent the morning training in the hills overlooking Oakhurst.
This team was successfully deployed several times over the summer for a variety of falls and high-angle rescues, and is made up primarily of volunteers. They are a key part of the Madera Search and Rescue family.
The MADSAR team is made up of several components, including the ropes team, the canine search unit, a dedicated off-highway vehicle unit, a 4×4 team, a snowmobile team an overhead and planning team, and many foot searchers.
The teams are constantly training, and preparing themselves for the next search.
