Madera County Sheriff’s Local Crime Log Through Nov. 20

MADERA COUNTY – Following are details from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of reports taken locally from Monday, Nov. 14 to Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016:

Coarsegold arrest on firearms charges
Om Monday, Nov. 14, at 12:03 a.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of Road 415 and Road 416 for a vehicle that was driving to the left of a double yellow line. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm in the vehicle. The driver was later booked on firearm related charges.

Oakhurst burglary arrest
On Monday, Nov. 14, at 7:28 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 49000 block of Road 426 in Oakhurst regarding a burglary. A report was taken, evidence obtained, PCD completed and case closed by arrest.

Coarsegold theft report
On Monday, Nov. 14, at 8:12 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to take a telephonic theft report that occurred in the area of Longhollow Drive and Glacier Drive. The victim requests contact by telephone. There are currently no suspect(s) or witnesses. No physical evidence is located at the scene. Report to be closed due to a lack of investigative leads/evidence.

Coarsegold Coroner’s investigation
On Monday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a residence located in the 30000 block of Flying O Ranch in regards to a coroners investigation. The circumstances of the death are currently unknown. Next of kin is notified. This report is to be forwarded to the Chief Deputy Coroner for review and follow up. Case to remain open at this time.

North Fork theft and vandalism
On Monday, Nov. 14, at 1:35 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 33000 block of Road 223 regarding a theft and vandalism. Report taken. Case to be closed.

North Fork Search and Rescue
On Monday, Nov. 14, at 3:12 p.m., members of the Madera County Search and Rescue Team were dispatched to the area of Redinger Lake
in Madera County regarding an adult male who had fallen from an overlook area and was laying unconscious on the rocks below. Subject was recovered and transported by air ambulance to CRMC.

North Fork students in possession of marijuana
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 8:31 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a public school located in the 33000 block of Road 228 in regards to two juvenile students being in possession of suspected marijuana. Upon arrival, school staff and the juveniles were contacted. The juveniles’ guardians were also contacted. Citations were issued to the juveniles and evidence was later booked into evidence at the sheriff’s office sub station. This report is to be forwarded to the Madera County Juvenile Probation Department.

Coarsegold child porn report
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 9:16 a.m., a detective contacted a subject regarding a case of possible child porn. It was determined no crime existed. A report was written for documentation.

Oakhurst fraud case
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 2:55 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 40000 block of Highway 49 regarding a fraud. Report taken. Case to go to detectives for follow up.

Oakhurst illegal trash dump
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 3:31 p.m., a deputy responded to lobby traffic in Oakhurst sub station regarding an illegal trash dump off of Road 620 in Oakhurst. An investigation was conducted and it was determined that unknown suspects dumped old appliances and trash on a road that is not county maintained. Case closed due to lack of investigate leads.

Coarsegold vehicle damaged with a shotgun
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 4:20 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 29000 block of Acorn Court regarding a vandalism. Upon contacting the victim it was determined his vehicle had been shot twice by bird shot from a shotgun. The case is currently under investigation.

Coarsegold trespassing by Kern County parolee
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6:35 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 35000 block of California Highway 41 regarding a subject who was trespassing. Upon contacting the subject it was determined the subject had a parole warrant out of Kern County. The Madera County Jail refused to book the subject, so he was transported to the Kern County Sheriff’s Department and booked into the Kern County Jail.

North Fork assault
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10:14 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a residence located within the 58000 block of Road 225 in North Fork, regarding a report of an assault. This case has been forwarded to the Madera County DA’s Office for the filing of related charge.

Oakhurst homicide
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10:59 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence located within the 50000 block of Whoyah Teh Road in Oakhurst, regarding a suspicious unknown male knocking on the complainant’s front door. During the investigation it was determined the unknown male (arrestee) had been involved in a homicide and an attempt homicide in a vehicle found a few mile away on CA-41, near River Falls Road in Oakhurst. The deceased could not be positively identified at the time of this initial investigation. This case has been forwarded to the Sheriff’s Detectives Major Crimes Division for further investigation.

North Fork deer vs. Sheriff’s vehicle
On Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 3:09 a.m., a deputy was involved in a traffic collision with a deer, a quarter-mile north of Church Ranch Road on Road 200. County vehicle suffered minor damage.

Oakhurst student reports cellphone and earbuds stolen
On Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 9:30 a.m., the Assistant Principal at a local school advised the School Resource Deputy that a cellphone and earbuds were stolen during 2nd period PE. The campus is located at the 50000 block of Road 427 in Oakhurst. The earbuds were recovered but the cellphone is still outstanding. Investigation ongoing by School Resource Deputy.

Oakhurst theft of package from mailbox
On Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 11:41 a.m., a victim reported that a package was stolen from the mailbox cluster located on Road 426 at Quail Ridge.

Oakhurst juvenile reported with marijuana on campus
On Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 p.m., the School Resource Deputy was informed by the Campus Safety Supervisor that a student possessed marijuana on school grounds. The school is located at the 50000 block of Road 427 in Oakhurst. The student was cooperative and turned over to his mother after being interviewed. The case will be forwarded to Madera County Juvenile Probation.

Coarsegold crash involves sheriff’s deputy
On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7:43 a.m., a deputy was involved in a not-at-fault traffic collision that occurred on Highway 41 in Coarsegold. No damage to county vehicle, however minor damage to other vehicle. No injuries reported, report taken for documentation purposes.

Oakhurst investigation of minor children not attending school
On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 9:21 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 40000 block of Griffin Drive in Oakhurst regarding a welfare check of two school-aged children who have not been going to school. No one was at the residence. Deputy contacted the reporting party and a report was generated. Forward a copy of this report to Madera County CPS due to truancy issues.

Bass Lake identity theft
On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 48000 block of Liberty Drive in Oakhurst regarding identify theft. A report was taken and packet collected. Forward to detectives.

North Fork welfare check leads to arrest
On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 2:20 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 58000 block of Road 225 to conduct a welfare check of an elderly female. Female checked negative for 5150 and was turned over to family members. One adult male was arrested and booked on an outstanding felony warrant. Case to be closed.

North Fork dementia reports subject attempting to start fire
Friday, Nov. 18, at 12:10 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 58000 block of Road 225 regarding suspicious activity. Elderly female reporting subject in her room was attempting to start a fire. The elderly female was determined to have dementia and was placed on a 5150 hold. Case to be closed.

Coarsegold domestic disturbance
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1:36 a.m., a deputy responded to the 46000 block of Lucky Lane in Coarsegold regarding a domestic disturbance. During the investigation a male was arrested for PC 243(e)(1) and booked at MCDOC. This case is to be forwarded to the DA’s office for filing.

North Fork Coroner’s case
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:37 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 55000 block of Pahuma Lane regarding a Coroner Case. Report to be forwarded to Chief Deputy Coroner.

Oakhurst graffiti vandalism
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9:02 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 40000 block of Highway 49 in Oakhurst in regards to graffiti vandalism. A report taken. No evidence collected. Close the case.

Oakhurst vandalism at the library
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m., a deputy located graffiti vandalism at the Oakhurst Library. Photos were taken and a report taken. Close the case.

Ahwahnee robbery/vandalism leads to protective order filed
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10:36 a.., a deputy was dispatched to the 43000 block of Hilltop Lane in regards to robbery / vandalism. A report taken and an Emergency Protective Order granted. The victim did not want charges filed. Close the case.

Coarsegold mission person
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10:21 a.m. a deputy met the reporting party at the Oakhurst substation concerning a missing person report from the 30000 block of Road 400. Report taken.

Oakhurst graffiti vandalism
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11:29 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 49000 block of Road 426 in Oakhurst in regards to graffiti vandalism. Photos were taken and notified the business. Close the case due to lack of investigative leads.

Oakhurst graffiti vandalism at another location
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 12:05 p.m., a deputy located graffiti vandalism in the 40000 block of CA 41 in Oakhurst. A report and photos taken. Close the case due to lack of investigative leads.

Oakhurst theft report leads to outstanding warrant subject
On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 4:41 p.m., a deputy was flagged down by a motorist regarding a theft from an Oakhurst business. The suspect vehicle was stopped. A passenger inside the vehicle had an outstanding arrest warrant. The theft turned out to have been dealt with in the store and no crime committed. The male passenger was cited out on the warrant. Close the case.
