O’NEALS — At the first home game of the season, Minarets JV and Varsity Baseball played against Lindsay on Tuesday, Mar. 15. The Varsity Mustangs won with a score of seven to one in favor.

“It was an all around good game with great defensive plays, great pitching from Aaron Hall, tons of strikeouts, and a great win to head into the Hoover game,” according to player Hayden Alford, #6. As the audience could tell, the Varsity Baseball Mustangs are positive and ready for another win.

varsity baseball1On the same day, Minarets JV Baseball team played against Lindsay and, unfortunately, lost with a close score of one to zero.

“We played pretty well against Lyndsey, our team came together as a whole and made little errors, but all in all we had good game,” says N#17, Connor Heidebrecht. Although, the first home game of season ended in a loss, the JV Baseball Mustangs are sure keeping up a winning attitude.

varsity baseball4On Wednesday, Mar. 16, Varsity Baseball went up against Hoover in their second home game. Minarets claimed victory by ten points, winning fourteen to four.

“Hoover was a tough game to start out,”  says Hunter Thompson, #22. “Riley Hillerman pitched a great game, Drew Robertson made a great diving play, which was ESPN worthy. After that play we rode the energy to the plate, scoring a lot of runs in the next few innings, putting the ball in play, and doing the little things to get the job done at hand, and dare I say we were ‘eating’ that game.”

varsity baseball2Confidence is a great look on the Varsity Mustangs. They are, by far, ready to take on their next game.

JV played Hoover on the same day.

“We lost four to zero and did pretty good considering the mishaps we had,” explains Hunter Thompson, #22. “After upping our collaboration, I think we pulled together in the sad loss.” Despite this setback, the JV Baseball team is content and prepared with another game.

varsity baseball3On Thursday, Mar. 17, Varsity Baseball played Dos Palos for another home game. While continuing to protect their territory, Minarets Mustangs won with a score of three to seven. It appears, with a three streak win, the Varsity team is headed towards a major success.

Varsity Baseball played a home game against Pacheco on Saturday, Mar. 19. With a difference of six points, the Mustangs won. Having an ending score of seven to one in favor only prolongs our Varsity team to continue their winning streak.
