Little League Try-outs Saturday, Still Time To Sign-Up!

OAKHURST – Sierra Mountain Little League (SMLL) has tryouts scheduled for this Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Sierra Mountain Little League fields.

Parent Robin Ward, SMLL Vice President, says it’s not too late for kids ages 4-12 to sign-up, regardless of skills, and players age 7-12 must try out. Please come early if your child is not yet registered.

“We continue to take sign-ups because we want more kids to catch baseball fever! We strive for all players to reach an understanding of the game, to appreciate the rules and follow them in and out of the ball field. We commit to make each child better than they are when they come in and we want them to learn a healthy competitive spirit.”To register their child, parents need a birth certificate, proof of residency and registration fee. Registration costs $75 for ages 4-8 and $95 for ages 9-12.

All kids age 7-12 must try out, according to organizers on the SMLL Facebook page. “Even if you were on a majors team last year, you still must try out again this year. Please have your kids in their baseball attire and ready to go. If you have not yet registered, please be there by 8 a.m.”‘

Kids will try out on Saturday and then be drafted by teams a week later, says Ward.

“We have interviewed managers/coaches this year and are sure we have the best staff available to teach our ball players a love of the game,” confirms Ward.
