Lark Fire In North Fork Contained, Expect Delays On Road 225

NORTH FORK — A vegetation fire that blocked traffic and threatened at least one home on Road 225 has been contained.

Just before 4 p.m. today crews were called out to a vegetation fire burning in the area of Road 225 at Lark Lane in North Fork.

Cal Fire Rancheria Engines 4255 and 4275 were first at scene about 4 p.m., and reported the fire at about one acre.

As resources from Madera County Fire and Sierra National Forest joined Cal Fire in knocking down the flames, residents grabbed shovels and hoses and went to work also.

By 4:18 p.m., the forward progress of the fire had been stopped, and at 4:40 it was contained, with an estimated 2-3 hours for mop-up.

The roadways was blocked in both directions, but as of 4:45 p.m., one-lane traffic control is in place.
