Kid Friendly Free Home And Garden Fair Saturday

OAKHURST – The Yosemite Gateway Association of Realtors (YGAR) has cooked up a fun family event set for Saturday, May 17. Make a plan to bring the kids and meet more than 50 local vendors whose products and services are designed to enhance the home.

Did we mention bounce house and hot dogs?

The 2014 Home and Garden Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot adjacent to Sears Hometown Store, at 40298 Junction Drive.

YGAR Home and Garden“The idea is to bring together small vendors and local shoppers,” said Karina Bulow-Brown, who is a YGAR affiliate and committee volunteer for the event.

There is no charge to attend the Home and Garden Fair, including free interactive attractions for kids, such as bounce house, petting zoo, photo booth and mini-horse rides. The Lions Club of Oakhurst will be cooking up burgers and hot dogs for a small fee, and Kettle Corn will also be available for purchase.

More than 50 booths are expected at the Fair. Vendors will offer locally made goods, including arts and crafts, home and yard decor, pantry items and supplements, lotions and candles, plants, and furniture, such as repurposed wine barrels and custom Murphy beds.

A DJ will entertain the crowd, with live acoustic music taking over at the breaks. Whether contractor, mortgage lender, title company, realtor, political candidate or Cal Fire: a host of individuals will be available to answer questions and offer advice.

“It’s going to be perfect weather, and we want families to come and bring the kids, have a great time, and to learn something,” Karina continues. “Stop by on your way to Relay for Life or on your way back. It’s going to be a wonderful event with lots of local people coming together to meet and shop.”

YGARSponsored by Sierra Telephone and organized by YGAR, this is the first year for the Home and Garden Fair.

YGAR also hosts an annual rummage sale and gives generously to community scholarship programs at the high school level. The nonprofit group will have a booth set up at the fair, and organizers want the members community to stop by and say hello.
