AUBERRY – Firefighters on the Kerkhoff Fire made good progress overnight, holding the blaze at 80 acres with 50 percent containment.
The fire was reported just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, and is burning along Powerhouse Road north of Auberry on the east side of the San Joaquin River.
The road closure at Road 222 and Road 200 has been lifted, and CHP in Fresno County says officers are still holding the closure between Wish-I-Ah and the county line at the San Joaquin River bridge. There is no estimate to completely re-open the road.
