John C. Fremont Offers Nursing Assistant Training Program

MARIPOSA — John C. Fremont Healthcare District is offering a Nursing Assistant Training Program, with a start date set for June 11.

This is an eight week paid on-the-job training program in which trainees are hired as temporary employees.

Trainees will earn the current minimum wage during the training program, and upon satisfactory completion of the educational requirements and successfully passing the State’s nursing assistant exam will continue as a JCF employee. Their hourly rate will then increase to $11.62, the base rate of pay for Level I Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s).

Two orientation meetings will be held in which attendees will receive information about being a nursing assistant, the training program, and the State’s criteria for Nursing Assistant certification. Attendance at one of the orientation meetings is mandatory to be considered for entry into the program.

The first orientation meeting will be held on Monday, May 7, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and the second will be held on Thursday, May 10, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Board Room, located in the administration building, in the back parking lot of the Hospital, at 5189 Hospital Road in Mariposa (see map below).

The deadline for submitting an application is Monday, May 14. Interviews will be held May 15-17 by appointment. Submission of an application does not guarantee applicant an interview.

The District provides trainees’ books, a uniform, equipment, fingerprinting fee and the State’s certification test fee. Persons applying for this job training program must meet the State’s criteria for nursing assistant certification as well as the District’s employment criteria, which includes: a background check, drug and alcohol testing, and a physical.

The District is a drug-free workplace. Candidates must be 18 years old by the start of the program and be a high school graduate or GED equivalent. The program is limited to eight students.

Join a supportive environment where teamwork and a focus on high quality patient care comes first. Nursing Assistants are utilized in the skilled nursing, home health and hospice, and med-surg departments of the District.
