Jeronimo Martinez Found Mentally Incompetent To Stand Trial

MADERA – The Madera Superior Court has found defendant Jeronimo Ramirez Martinez mentally incompetent to stand trial, according to District Attorney Michael R. Keitz.

Ramirez Martinez is charged with the murders of Fidel Hernandez, 20, and Delfino Hernandez, 41, on May 28, 2010.On Monday, Dec. 10, the reports of two psychologists were examined during an in-court hearing, and it was concluded that Ramirez Martinez lacked the mental competency to understand the nature of the proceedings against him and assist in his defense at trial.

Judge Joseph Soldani has scheduled a hearing for Jan. 15, 2013, to consider his placement in a mental health facility to address his mental issues.
