Hunters Fire Nearly Contained

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Activity at the Hunters Fire is winding down. Crews are being released and the fire is now 80% contained at 677 acres. Firefighters continue to mop up, patrol, and perform fire suppression repair.

Evacuation orders were lifted for residents at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28. There are no evacuation centers open at this time.

Currently 764 personnel are assigned to the fire along with 65 engines, 4 dozers, 3 helicopters and 6 water tenders.

No structures are threatened at this time, and three were destroyed during the first hours of the blaze. Eight injuries have been reported.

Complete containment is estimated for Monday, June 2. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
