HOW Dinner Set For Stefany Pilliar-Radcliffe

BASS LAKE – The local chapter of nonprofit organization Helping One Woman (HOW) will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at The Forks Resort restaurant at Bass Lake in support of Stefany Pilliar-Radcliffe.

Stefany met her husband, John, when her children were five and two years old. He supported her through many years of classes, say HOW organizers, and nursing school at Fresno State.

“In 2011 shortly after Stefany graduated from nursing school, her daughter Sarah was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage IIIB at the age of 20. Sarah made a miraculous recovery and is currently still in remission.”

Last year, when Stefany’s son Josh was 26, he was also diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Stage II. His last chemo treatment was in December, 2014, and he is also currently in remission, according to HOW.

In February, they explain, Stefany’s husband started getting sick. In March he was diagnosed with ALS. Now Stefany and the adult children are spending every precious moment caring for John.

Those participating in the HOW benefit dinner place $10 or more toward a contribution for Stefany, and pay for their own dinners. Proceeds from the evening go directly to the month’s recipient — Stefany for September — at the end of the evening. “Absolutely nothing is kept by the organization or anyone else.”

The HOW team reminds those who plan on coming to RSVP to The Forks at (559) 642-3737.

How members believe that “one woman giving $10 can buy another woman’s lunch. Ten women giving $10 can buy another woman’s groceries. One hundred women giving $10 can change another woman’s life. This is how HOW works.”
