HOW Dinner Honors Sharlene Williams

UPDATE: July 19, 2017 from HOW organizers: Due to the evacuations from Mariposa and the fallout from the fire, we are postponing tonight’s dinner. We will be honoring Sharlene Williams next month instead. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to seeing you all next month.

AHWAHNEE – The nonprofit women’s group Helping One Woman (HOW) is meeting on Wednesday, July 19, at the Hitching Post restaurant to honor Sharlene Williams. The evening of food, fundraising and friendship begins at 6 p.m.

Sharlene’s husband Greg Williams lost a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer in May, leaving Sharlene and their teenage son Scotte to learn to cope without him.

“Sharlene and Greg, who own the Hitching Post in Ahwahnee, have been great contributors to our community,” HOW organizers say. “We are appreciative of her service and now have a chance to show her our support as well.”

HOW meets monthly for an uplifting evening in honor of one deserving woman who receives the community’s support when they need it the most.

Those participating in the HOW benefit will offer $10 or more as a suggested donation for Sharlene and pay for their own dinner. Proceeds from the event go directly to Sharlene at the end of the evening.

HOW says that “one woman with $10 can buy another woman lunch. Ten women giving $10 can buy another woman’s groceries. One hundred women giving $10 can make a real difference in another woman’s life.”

Please RSVP to Tokens at (559) 658-5428 with the number in your party.

The Hitching Post is located at 42592 Highway 49 in Ahwahnee. Phone (559) 683-7917.
