HOW Dinner Tonight Honors Frankie Honea

OAKHURST – The local chapter of nonprofit organization Helping One Woman (HOW) will meet tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 17, to honor and support Frankie Honea.

The event was previously scheduled for last month and was postponed due to the junction fire.

Frankie was diagnosed in February of this year with a rare and challenging form of breast cancer, say organizers.

Currently undergoing treatment, Frankie is known as “a fighter” who is “refusing to give into her illness.” HOW members will gather for an uplifting evening, to offer encouragement, and to remind Frankie that “she is not alone in her fight.” This meeting was previously scheduled for last week and was postponed due to the Junction Fire.

Organizers say tonight would be a great night to nominate a woman who has suffered devastating loss resulting from the Courtney Fire in Oakhurst and Bass Lake.

The Oakhurst Chapter of HOW honors one recipient each month whose name is drawn from nominations offered by those who participate. HOW attendees purchase their own dinner and provide a cash gift of $10 or more. The monetary gift is a meant as support for a woman in a time of loss or illness, while the emotional support the group provides is the driving force behind the organization.

“This force is powerful, and healing, and your support is greatly appreciated!”

Contact El Cid for reservations. For more information, visit HOW on Facebook.
