NORTH FORK — Once again the generous folks at Hillside Baptist Church will be providing those in need with new shoes ahead of winter.
This Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., North Fork, Wishon and O’Neals children who are pre-kindergarten to 12th grade and in need of shoes are invited to come by the church and have Pastor Carl Hatton and his helpers fit them with new shoes and socks.
This is the 8th annual Shoe Giveaway at Hillside Baptist, and by our estimates, they have provided nearly 2,000 new pairs of shoes to those who might not otherwise be able to have a decent pair for the winter.
Nearly two dozen church members, people from the community and local businesses have donated gifts of either shoes or money to make this event possible.
Kids will also be offered free haircuts, a free lunch and the opportunity to select items from the church’s yard sale.
