Just after 3 p.m., reports came in of the two-vehicle accident between Road 406 and Road 208. The first engine on scene reported two people pinned in their vehicles, and several other injuries.

First responders had the occupants extricated from the vehicles by 3:25 p.m., and one patient was airlifted by SkyLife to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Two other patients were transported by Sierra Amblance, also to CRMC, with moderate injuries.

At 3:55 p.m., CHP reported one-lane traffic control was in place.

Motorists were advised to use a detour route southbound at Road 200, and northbound at Highway 145 (see map below) to avoid the long delays.

UPDATE: The roadway was reopened at 5 p.m.
