NORTH FORK – Friends and family are mourning the loss of Herbert John Curry, who passed away yesterday at age 88, surrounded by his family.
Herb was involved in a serious accident on Deadwood, just south of Oakhurst on Highway 41, on Sept. 3, and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center. He passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, due to complications from surgery.
Herb moved to North Fork nearly 20 years ago, and was a life-long collector and restorer of classic cars, and a member of the Mountain Road Rattlers car club. Many locals will recall seeing him cruising through the mountains in his purple 1940 Ford Coupe — one of many cars he restore over his lifetime.
He also regularly attended the Little Church in the Pines.
Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 23. No details on time or location are yet available, and we will post when we have more information for those who wish to share in a celebration of his life.
