Free Master Gardeners Events In October

MADERA COUNTY – With Fall planting season upon us, now is the time to take advantage of free garden advice and workshops presented by UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners. There will be three events in October to answer questions and get you motivated.

The first is a Garden Advice Clinic at Western Sierra Nursery in Oakhurst on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening and landscaping questions. There will also be materials and information to take home.

The second event is an Irrigation Workshop led by Master Gardeners Barbara Mattice and Jim Espinola on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Madera Community College Center. Barbara and Jim will cover irrigation basics, how to convert your current sprinkler system to drip irrigation, and preparing for Fall and Winter.

Then on Saturday, Oct. 31, there will be a second Garden Advice Clinic held at Lowe’s Home Improvement store at 2100 West Cleveland Ave in Madera from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is no charge for these events and no reservations are necessary. Western Sierra Nursery is located at 49266 Golden Oak Drive in Oakhurst. Madera Community College Center is located at 30277 Avenue 12. The Irrigation Workshop will be held in Room R-3A and there is free parking in Lot C near the Three Sisters Demonstration Garden.
