Forward Progress Of Lush Meadows Fire Stopped

MARIPOSA COUNTY — Firefighters quickly got a handle on a vegetation fire in the Lush Meadows area of Mariposa County on Triangle Road this afternoon.

Just after 4:30 p.m., reports came in of a vegetation fire burning in the 3500 block of Triangle Road. Resources from Mariposa County, Cal Fire and U.S. Forest Service responded.

First engine at scene reported the fire at just over an acre burning in grass with one structure, a couple vehicles and several outbuildings immediately threatened.

CHP responded to close Triangle Road between Meadow Lane and Darrah Road.

Air Attack was dispatched, along with Tankers 82 and 83 and two helicopters, including one out of Battterson Work Station in Oakhurst.

Just after 5 p.m., an ambulance was dispatched for a person described as a “bystander” who suffered smoke inhalation.

At 5:07 p.m, the forward progress of the fire was stopped, with damage to one outbuilding. One air tanker, one helicopter and Air Attack were kept overhead, with all other aircraft released from the incident. One additional crew out of Mt. Bullion was ordered, plus a water tender, and all other resources not already at scene were cancelled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

  1. Thank you for the updates. We live very close to this and could not find any other information on it. I know the local volunteer fire station was on it very early. If you live in the area please consider thanking them when you see them. It was very scary to hear all those tankers in the air right over our home.
