NORTH FORK — Firefighters made quick work of a vegetation fire this afternoon on Kowana Lane just off Road 221 in North Fork.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. this afternoon crews were called out to an address at the end of the road where a fire was burning in a pasture next to the house.
There was one travel trailer inside the pasture near where the fire appeared to have started.
Cal Fire Engine 4255 out of the Rancheria was on scene within about five minutes, followed closely by Engine 3158, Engine 4254 out of Bass Lake and Sierra National Forest Engine 53 out of North Fork.
The fire was reported at one-quarter acre with the home and trailer immediately threatened.
Firefighters set to work getting water on the flames and a Sheriff’s deputy also grabbed a shovel, along with some of the residents who were already at work to stop the spread of the fire.
They had forward progress stopped within about ten minutes of arrival, and the fire contained to one acre shortly thereafter.
The homeowner had cleared defensible space around the structure, which helped with suppression efforts, especially with the gusty winds blowing through the area at the time.
One of the residents reportedly suffered burns while working to stop the fire.
Most of the resources were released from the fire by 4:45 p.m. to become available for other assignments.
The cause is under investigation.
