AUBERRY – The Musick Fire, burning along Forest Road 9S07 between Power House Road and Highway 168, is adding to the already smoky skies and frayed nerves of the mountain area.
The fire was reported shortly after noon today at about 5 to 10 acres. Crews are on scene and more are en route to the fire, which was most recently estimated at 20 acres. The fire is in Fresno County on the east side of the San Joaquin River, east of Auberry and west of Shaver Lake.
Residents in the area of Musick Creek Road and Forest Roads 8S08 and 9S06 have been evacuated. CHP has been requested to assist and are standing by in case the Shaver Lake area needs to be evacuated, though the fire is some distance from there at this time.
At least one helicopter is over the fire, currently working a spot fire 1/4 mile out from the main fire.
