DUI Arrest After Two-Vehicle Crash On Road 400

COARSEGOLD – An Ahwahnee man was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI this morning after a nearly head-on collision on Road 400.

At about 9 a.m., CHP responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash just south of Yosemite Springs Parkway.

According to CHP, Louis Trotter, 44, was southbound near Sandy Beach Lane in a 2003 Chevy pickup, when he lost control and crossed into the path of a northbound 2015 Volkswagen Passat, driven by Deborah Hemiker, 59, of Coarsegold.

The two vehicles collided nearly head-on, blocking the northbound lane.

Hemiker suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Kaiser in Fresno.

Mr. Trotter was reportedly uninjured, and was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to the Madera Department of Corrections on charges of driving under the influence causing bodily injury to another.

One-lane traffic control was put in place as the scene was cleared.

The accident remains under investigation.
