DUI Arrest After Crash On Highway 49

OAKHURST – Traffic was stopped in both directions on Highway 49 this evening while emergency personnel cleared a wreck just south of Griffin Lane.

Colton Herold, 26, of Madera was southbound in a Ford F250 just after 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3, when he drove his truck off the right shoulder of the road, where it crashed into a tree, and came to rest on the passenger side.

The truck barely missed breaking through the fence to the back yard of a residence in the Goldside neighborhood.

According to CHP at the scene, the driver was intoxicated at the time of the wreck. He also had a young female passenger in the vehicle. Both suffered only minor injuries.

After being administered a field sobriety test, Herold was taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
