Downed Power Lines Block Highway 41 Near Fish Camp

FISH CAMP — Crews are at scene of downed power lines blocking both lanes of Highway 41 just north of Miami Mountain Road, south of the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad.

The roadway is closed in both directions at this time.

At about 8:15 a.m., reports came in of power lines down, starting a couple spot fires on both sides of the road. Crews from the Sierra National Forest, Madera County Fire and Cal Fire responded for suppression efforts.

The fires were reported out at 8:43 a.m., and all resources not already at scene were cancelled.

An ETA for PG&E is 9:45 a.m., and Caltrans is en route for traffic control. CHP estimates at least two hours before lanes can be reopened. Traffic is being turned around at Lewis Creek northbound.

A crew falling trees in the area reportedly clipped the lines, according to reports from crews at scene.

We will update as conditions change.

**UPDATE 9:30 A.M. – PG&E has the power lines cut and de-energized, and traffic is now open in both directions.**
