Dorothy Mae Ewing obituary pictureAug. 1, 2016Dorothy Mae Ewing was born December 17, 1928, in Sanderson, Texas, to parents, Bruce and Lavon Burnett. She was the oldest of five children. Dorothy died peacefully in her sleep on the Lords Day, July 17, 2016. She was 87.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children Joe, Shirley and husband Rick, Dan, Jim and Marilyn; two grandchildren, Dawn Heather and Ricky Alan; and five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Angeline, Nathan Ryder, Carly René, Travis Alan and Logan Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her son Robert Bruce and husband Joseph Howard Ewing.

She grew up in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas. She then attended Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas, where she met Howard. They were married for 67 years.

Mrs. Ewing will be remembered for her unending love and devotion to her husband and children, grandchildren and great-grand children, her dedication to God, and her Christian faith. She was also devoted to her bible studies, teaching bible school and women’s classes, and bible camps as a camp nurse.

Dorothy had a generous spirit. Some of her interests were her passion for cooking, visiting and feeding the sick, sharing her home with friends and family, eating and playing games, sewing to perfection, traveling, flower gardening, western music, hiking, panning for gold with Ricky and Dawn and digging for arrow heads, swimming at the river, and helping those who were stranded on Highway 49 South.

Dorothy also enjoyed her work as a Teacher’s Assistant with the California School District for eleven years. She also had training in interior design and Dale Carnegie courses for public speaking. She loved reading and donating to Power for Today, House to House.com, and In Search of the Lords Way, a public TV program every Sunday.

We will always hear her say, “You’re here!”

Services for Mrs. Ewing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 50887 Road 632 in Oakhurst, Calif.
