Written by Dale Silverman –

COULTERVILLE — Never been to Coulterville, the Gold Rush town too tough to die? Make plans now to be there on Saturday, Sept. 23, when this year’s CoyoteFest turns Coulterville back into a Boom Town for the day!

Featuring the 32nd annual Coyote Howl, a car show, pony rides, the Coyote Hill Band, an array of kids activities, vendor booths filled with unique merchandise and all sorts of other entertainment and activities — it is a day of Free Family Fun for Everyone.

A parade down Historic Main St. kicks off the day at 10 a.m. There are no admission fees to enjoy the live music and entertainment in either the park or on Main Street, and there’s free parking all around town, thanks in large part to Allied Auto, the CoyoteFest Event Sponsor and Car Show Sponsor.

The Car Show featuring an array of vintage, classic and sports cars begins at 10 a.m. on historic Main Street, which is also where there will be free showings of Road Runner cartoons at the John Muir Geotourism Center with free popcorn at each.

Coulterville Park …“Where It’s At.” The Coyote Hill Band will be belting out their great music throughout the day. The Kid’s Korner will feature prizes and games, and there’s face painting, a bounce house, pony rides, “Zippy” electric rides for the younger set. Both the Coyote Howl Contest and Horseshoe Contests take place throughout the day.

Vendors this year will feature an array of craft and vintage goods along with kettle corn, jams, jellies, baked goods, hamburgers ‘n hot dogs, tacos, enchiladas, BBQ, soda, water, beer, candles, CoyoteFest souvenir T-Shirts, raffles and more.

The 32nd Annual Coyote Howl Contest will once again be front and center. Sign-ups take place in the park. All ages from infant to 100+ are welcome to compete for the $100 cash prizes in every category with their most wowin’ howl.

For information about registering or anything else, call the Northern Mariposa County History Center at 209-878-3015, or go to www.CoyoteFest.org and register online. Last minute updates will be posted on the CoyoteFest Facebook page. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled-family event.

Looking forward to more of everything — crowds, howls, cars and old-fashioned fun. CoyoteFest 2017 will be the best Coulterville has ever seen, so be sure you are a part of it. AHWOoooo!
