NORTH FORK — North Fork Boy Scout Troop 357 along with Cub Pack 357 will be holding a recruitment evening at the Scout Building next to the North Fork Town Hall, on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7 pm.
Scouting provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness, while helping build future leaders with lifelong values. And best of all, they have lots of fun!
In addition to weekly meetings, Scouts of Troop 357 participate in once-a-month weekend activities. During meetings and weekend events Scouts learn first aid, cooking, camping, map and compass, swimming, citizenship and other skills.
The Scouts of Troop 357 are also well known and loved for providing the Christmas trees in the North Fork Library parking lot each year.
Boys in 1st grade through 5th grade are eligible for the Cub Scout program. Boys 11 (or 10 ½ and in 6th Grade) through age 17 are eligible for the Boy Scout program.
The recruitment night will offer an opportunity to meet with unit leaders as well as older Scouts to learn more about the program.
Boys and parents interested in learning more about the Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs are encouraged to attend this event.
