Detwiler Suppression Repair Efforts Halted

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Suppression repair work on the Detwiler Fire has been suspended due to high fire danger.

On Sunday, July 16, the Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit of Cal Fire responded to the Detwiler Fire, which started in the Hunters Valley are of Mariposa County. As of Tuesday, Aug. 8, the fire is 81,826 acres and 98 percent contained.

Fire crews have been implementing the Incident Fire Line Suppression Repair Plan. However, due to a heightened risk of fire danger caused by these activities, Cal Fire suppression repair efforts are being halted.

The Incident Fire Line Suppression Repair Plan will continue as weather conditions permit.

“Fire suppression repair is a series of immediate post-fire actions taken to repair impacts to the land and minimize the potential for soil erosion and other issues that might arise. It usually begins before the fire is completely contained and before the demobilization of the Incident Management Team.” — see below.
