Denny's Restaurant Remodel Moving Forward

OAKHURST – While work continues on the new Denny’s restaurant in Oakhurst, residents wait and wonder how soon they will be ready to open.

Dev Sagar, new owner along with his wife Sunita, says they are working through the permitting process and can’t give a date certain until that is complete and inspections are done.“We have no specific date for opening at this time,” says Sagar. “Probably some time in June, but that’s tentative.”

For those anxious to apply for jobs, Sagar says that about 2-3 weeks before opening, they will hold an open house to take applications and begin training.

“Human Resources will contact the appropriate local agencies when we’re ready to move forward on hiring,” says Sagar. “Right now our focus is to make sure the facility is being finished properly, and work through the permitting process.”

Sunita Sagar bought her first franchise in 2007, when she took over an underperforming Denny’s in Campbell, Ca. Since then she and her husband have built an organization that, as of 2011, included eight Denny’s, five Baja Fresh, and five Jack in the Box locations, according to John Caroll writing on franchising.com. Three of those Denny’s restaurants are in Fresno.

The new Denny’s will be located in the former location of the ‘Ol Kettle at 40650 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
