Deeper in Debt: The Student Loan Crisis

MARIPOSA — The Mariposa Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host a program, “Deeper in Debt: The Student Loan Crisis,” on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 4:30 p.m. at Miner’s Roadhouse Inn. The program is free and the community is invited and encouraged to attend.

This timely and important program will feature a presentation describing the current student loan crisis, how it disproportionately affects women, and provide some proposed recommendations that can be made to policy makers to help address the issues. Local experts in finance and education will provide insight into the current student loan process.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the experts questions.

AAUW is a national organization dedicated to lifelong learning and advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. The Mariposa branch has over 90 members who organize local projects such as Tech Trek, a week-long science camp for girls, the Backpack Project to provide needed school supplies, and Dinner with a Scientist and an evening at UC Merced for girls interested in scientific careers.
