Debate Set For District Attorney And Supervisor Candidates

NORTH FORK – Sierra News Online and the North Fork Boosters will host a debate between the 2018 candidates for Madera County District Attorney and District 5 Supervisor on Friday, Apr. 20, at 6 p.m. at the North Fork Town Hall.

Candidates for District Attorney are incumbent David Linn, and challengers Sally Moreno, former Madera County Supervising Deputy District Attorney for Madera County, now at the D.A.’s office in Fresno; and Madera County Senior Deputy District Attorney Paul Hornick.

Tom Wheeler is being challenged for his seat as District 5 Supervisor by Marc Sobel and Nokomis Hernandez.

If any candidate earns 50 percent plus one vote in the June 5 primary, they will be declared the winner. If no one gets a majority of the vote, the top two will face off in the November election.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the debate will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.

There will be no debate for sheriff as no one has filed to run against our current Sheriff Jay Varney. Other positions that are unopposed include Treasurer/Tax Collecter, Auditor-Controller, County Assessor, Clerk/Recorder and Superintendent of Schools.

We will let everyone know if and when a debate is set for Oakhurst.

The North Fork Town Hall is located at 33060 Road 228.
