Cub Scouts Hold Flag Retirement Ceremony

NORTH FORK — Cub Scout Pack 357 will hold a flag retirement ceremony previously scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10, at the North Fork Recreation Center, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and the public is invited to attend. This date was canceled due to weather and the new date will be advised when it’s available.

The North Fork Recreation Center is located at 33507 Road 230.

According to Boy Scouts of America, under Title 4, Chapter 1, § 8, paragraph k of the US Code (often referred to as the Flag Code) it states:

The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

“Please bring any flags that need to be retired,” say organizers. “We will be having a time of remembrance for those who served during Pearl Harbor.”
