NORTH FORK — Crews responded to reports of a vegetation fire burning near Lions Point, northeast of North Fork on the Mammoth Pool Road above Redinger Lake.
At about 1:45 p.m., reports came in that workers doing dozer work in the area had started a fire, and crews, engines and the helicopter out of Batterson Work Camp were dispatched.
Sierra National Forest Engines 51 and 52 responded to what was dubbed the Point Fire, along with Fresno 5 crew and the helicopter.
By 2:04 p.m., crews had the fire contained to 1/10 acre, and all incoming resources were cancelled.
The fire was located in Township 8 South, Range 24 East, Section 31.
