Crab Cakes Supports The Arts In North Fork

OAKHURST – Crab Cakes owner Roman Zabicki presented Squirrel Cage Theatre Co. vice-president David Novell with a check for over $600 after a music-filled fundraiser on St. Patrick’s Day.

Local musicians including Good Medicine, Sugar Pine, Jean Butterfield, Dave & Amy, and Jeff Gurule & Joe Nelson entertained diners throughout the afternoon at Crab Cakes Restaurant on Sunday, Mar. 17, both in the main dining room and upstairs in the bar area.Zabicki donated $6 from each order of corned beef and cabbage to Squirrel Cage Theatre Co., which uses its proceeds to award scholarships to North Fork area students who go on to study the arts in college.

“The community has done so much to support me and my family,” said Zabicki. “I appreciate having the opportunity to support the community and pay it forward.”

Both of Roman and Laura Zabicki’s sons, Andrzej and Danny, participated in Squirrel Cage Theatre productions during their time attending the North Fork school.

This is not the first time Roman has hosted fundraising events for the theater group, and his continuing support makes it possible for more young people to not only be part of musical and theatrical productions in North Fork, but to receive financial assistance as they go on to college.
