AHWAHNEE – Calling all golfers and supporters of elementary education in the foothills: the PTA and kids of Coarsegold Elementary School invite duffers and others in the community to participate in the annual Cougar Classic Benefit Golf Tournament and dinner, on Saturday, Apr. 18, at Sierra Meadows Country Club.
The tournament begins with a bang: “shotgun” start at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $75 per player with dinner included.
For those who aren’t golfers but want to be part of the action, dinner is available on its own, for $15 presold or $20 at the door. Prizes will be awarded at the dinner, for feats on the links, including Putting Contest, Closest to Pin, Straight Drive and Long Drive. All funds raised go to Coarsegold Elementary PTA programs.
In the 2013-14 school year, the Coarsegold PTA will have raised over $30,000 according to organizers, “all of which is put directly back into the school to fund programs such as art classes, school events, Citizenship awards, 8th grade scholarships, and to purchase musical instruments, sports equipment,” and more.
Sponsorship opportunities at the Cougar Golf Classic are available for $100 holes, and the potential exists for a $500 Bronze sponsorship if a business is interested in coming on board, while receiving local advertising in return.
