Correction To Campground Closures At Bass Lake

CLOVIS – The Sierra National Forest has released a correction on the status of campgrounds in the area, including those at Bass Lake.

Little Denver Church and Denver Church picnic area on the Bass Lake Ranger District will remain closed due to hazardous tree removal projects that are still being completed to make the campground safer for the public. Gigantea campground, located on the High Sierra Ranger District, will also remained closed until work can be completed.

“The Sierra National Forest will continue to work to complete efforts, making the forest a safer place for all visitors,” said the Forest Service in a statement released today.

Wishon campground, located at Bass Lake, is now open for use.

“The Forest Service in cooperation with PG&E, continues to work in the Bass Lake area to ensure areas are safe for visitors to enjoy the campgrounds and day use areas there in light of the tree mortality that is ongoing. Fourth of July is a busy time of year on the Forest and we would like to remind people that it is important to plan ahead. Although some areas are still closed, most of the forest remains open and available for visitors to enjoy.”
