Containment Date For Sky Fire Announced

OAKHURST – Sky Ranch Road (632) remains closed as firefighters continue to remove dead and burned trees from along the roadway, and equipment is still working in the area.

Campgrounds above the fire area are open, including Soquel, Grey’s Mountain and Nelder Grove, according to the Sky Fire Public Information Officer, though access will be from Beasore Road or other routes.

Sky Ranch Road is closed on the north end about a mile south of Soquel Meadow at Road 6S11. It is closed on the south end at Buckskin lane, a little over a mile from Highway 41.

Calvin Crest and Camp Redwood are still closed. No estimated date has been given for reopening Sky Ranch Road.

The Sky Fire is 500 acres with 95 percent containment. There are currently 320 personnel assigned to the incident. Crews are continuing fireline suppression repair and mop-up on all parts of the fire.

The estimated date for total containment is Friday, June 26, at 6 p.m.
