Collision Near YLP Sends Local Doctor To The Hospital

OAKHURST – A head-on collision on Highway 41 just south of Yosemite Lakes Parkway has sent Dr. John McBride to the hospital, but staff at his practice say he is going to recover.

The accident happened at 8:22 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 near YLP. CHP reports indicate only that someone from the crash was transported to Fresno Regional Medical Center, and Dr. McBride’s office has confirmed that it was the local physician.Becky Morris, office administrator, said that Dr. McBride survived his injuries, and that they are clearing his schedule for the next month.

“We are still here to see the doctor’s patients,” said Morris. “We don’t want them to feel abandoned. Dr. Sachau, Robin, everyone else is here to take care of Dr. McBride’s patients.”

Staff at the Oakhurst Medical Group are optimistic about the doctor’s recovery.

Morris said that it was a serious accident, but “it’s not all doom and gloom. Our hearts and prayers are with him and his family, but if you know Dr. McBride, you know he is filled with tenacity. He is loved by his patients, and he will be back to work. He’ll just be on the mend for a while.”

He is receiving excellent care at Fresno Regional Medical Center, says Morris, and there are no details on his condition, and no indication of when he might be released.

The CHP office is closed for the holiday, and dispatch could not give any further information on the cause of the accident or details on the other driver. We will update as we get more information.
