Coarsegold Teen Suspected In Breakins Arrested

Madera County – Sheriff John Anderson announced Friday afternoon the arrest of a Coarsegold boy – believed to be involved in numerous YLP (Yosemite Lakes Park) break-ins.

Recovered so far, a handgun, two iPods, and a computer.

Sheriff Anderson says the young man’s arrest is the result of collaborative efforts by California Highway Patrol Sergeant Chris Finnegan and Deputy Sheriff Keith Schoettler.

At around 1pm Friday afternoon, Sgt. Finnegan (CHP) spotted a juvenile who appeared to match the description of a suspect involved in numerous residential break-ins in the YLP area.

Familiar with the details of the Mountain Sheriff’s Office ongoing investigation, he immediately detained the teenager and called the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Sheriff Keith Schoettler showed up and together recovered the stolen property, finally booking the 14-year old into Juvenile Hall.

The investigation is ongoing. Deputies say there may be more suspects involved. Anyone with information is urged to call either the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
