Coarsegold Crash Ends In DUI Arrest

COARSEGOLD — A single-vehicle roll-over crash yesterday afternoon ended with one man being taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.

At 7:46 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 2, Justin Potter, 40, of Coarsegold, was westbound on Road 415 in a 2004 Chevy Tahoe just west of the Coarsegold Elementary School near Wildwood Lane, when he failed to negotiate a sweeping right curve, according to CHP.

Potter allowed his vehicle to cross into the eastbound lane, pulled it back into his own lane, then crossed back into the eastbound lane where the vehicle overturned, coming to rest on the south shoulder of the road.

The driver was able to extricate himself from the wreck, and was not injured. He was, however, determined by officers at scene to be under the influence of alcohol, and was placed under arrest and transported to the Department of Corrections in Madera.

No other vehicles were involved, and there were no passengers in the Tahoe, according to CHP.
